Athabasca University's Faculty of Health Disciplines is currently recruiting for (2) Academic Coordinator, Nursing and Health Studies positions:
One is full-time permanent located in Edmonton or the surrounding metropolitan area.
One is full-time term located in Calgary or the surrounding metropolitan area.

The Faculty of Health Disciplines (FHD) is a proven national leader in health care education, offering high quality programs that enable graduates to make a difference in people's lives, lead innovation and progress in health care systems, engage in research and chart rewarding, lifelong careers. The Faculty of Health Disciplines (FHD) offers innovative and accessible programs and courses in both undergraduate and graduate studies, including the thesis research opportunities for graduate learners. FHD actively promotes research excellence and is home to two Canada Research Chairs in Regulation, Social Governance, and Inequities in Health as well as in Resurgent Methodologies for Indigenous Health. Faculty members are engaged in programs of research in a variety of health-related areas. Faculty members' research is funded nationally, including CFI, CIHR, and SSHRC, as well as through regional and provincial organizations.

The Position:
Reporting through the Program Director, Undergraduate Programs, to the Dean, the Academic Coordinator has 2 key areas of responsibility. They include:
Service to the Community: Participation in the life of Athabasca University and the community of which it is a part.
Teaching and Learning: The faculty member will be responsible for developing, teaching and evaluating undergraduate courses in the BN Program. Clinical teaching is one, four-week medical-surgical rotation each term.
Please Note: For your application to be considered, please provide specific and detailed examples of your medical-surgical clinical experience in your submission.
Requirements
Qualifications:
- Completed Master's in Nursing (MN or MScN, near completion may be considered in some cases)
- Active registration with CRNA as a Registered Nurse in Alberta
- Must have several years of medical-surgical nursing clinical experience, including experience within the last year
- Must relay the details of relevant medical-surgical experience in your application submission
- Must be available to teach one in-person, four consecutive weeks, full-time (Mon-Fri) clinical rotation on a medical-surgical unit per term
The ideal candidate is committed to growing their skills, learning, and contributing across teaching and service. They are innovative and reflective educators and will have current clinical teaching experience in medical/surgical nursing. Experience in an online learning environment is an asset. Demonstrated experience or potential to both lead and work respectfully and effectively as part of larger teams is essential. Openness and dedication to developing their skills and potential beyond areas of past or ongoing strength or success will be expected and fostered.

Work Location:
The successful candidate for the permanent role must reside in Edmonton or the surrounding metropolitan area.
