*PRN GI Procedural Registered Nurse* *Location:* Baylor Scott & White Medical Center - Waxahachie *Department:* Endoscopy Services (Hospital GI Lab & Freestanding ASC) *Schedule:* PRN (Variable hours based on department needs) *Shift:* Weekday procedural hours, Monday-Friday *Department Specifics: * *Hospital GI Lab:* * Two procedure rooms. * RNs coverage for each phase of care, including Pre, Post, Circulate, and Charge * One technician per procedure room, including support for scope reprocessing. * Performs routine and advanced GI Endoscopy, as well as Pulmonology procedures. *Freestanding ASC:* * Two procedure rooms. * RNs coverage for each phase of care, including Pre, Post, Circulate, and Charge * One technician per procedure room, including support for scope reprocessing. * Performs routine GI endoscopy, pain injections, stimulator implant procedures, and upcoming orthopedic injections. *Minimum Requirements (Must‑Have Skills)* * *Prior or recent Procedural/Endoscopy experience* is required. * Strong patient assessment and critical thinking abilities. * Proven ability to work effectively in a *fast‑paced procedural environment*. * Excellent communication and teamwork skills. *Preferred Qualifications (Nice‑to‑Have Skills)* * Experience in *Advanced GI* or *Pulmonology* procedural settings. * Moderate sedation experience. * Background supporting *minor surgical or interventional procedures* (e.g., pain injections, stimulator implants). * Experience in an *ASC, OR, or Cath Lab* environment. * Familiarity with sterile technique and procedural workflow. Job Summary The Registered Nurse on Unit is a key player in patient care management, following our nursing practice model. They work with other health care staff to deliver patient care effectively. Our Registered Nurses use the nursing process efficiently. They diagnose patient responses to health issues and create care plans accordingly. It includes evaluating healthcare needs and responses. Essential Functions of the Role * Prioritize needs. Create, implement, and assess care plan to achieve outcomes. Adapt plan as necessary. * Observe indicators closely, support evidence-based changes with research and hands-on learning. * Create a caring, safe environment for patients, families, and staff. * Build relationships with boundaries in mind. Focus on managing emotional and physical pain to promote healing and reduce suffering. * Facilitate learning for all members of the healthcare team, including patients, families, and nursing staff, ensuring everyone is well-informed. * Collaborate effectively with colleagues and the community to develop and execute an integrated plan of care. * Use problem-solving strategies and utilize available resources to support patients, family and staff as part of a systems thinking approach. Key Success Factors * Familiarity with nursing and patient care standards and procedures. * Awareness of legal requirements and standards of certification and accreditation bodies, including the specifics of the hospital and respective department/unit. * Good command of medical terminology, with a focus on healthcare promotion, risk reduction, and disease prevention. * Effective communication skills, along with social aptitude for interacting with diverse stakeholders. * Possessing critical thinking and problem-solving skills is crucial. * Capability to identify and report changes in patient conditions, develop, and modify patient care plans as required. * Basic computer skills necessary for day-to-day assignments.
