Job Summary
Part-Time; 6 Hours/Day; Maximum of 29 Hours/Week
This position is not eligible for benefits. Provides professional nursing care in a school setting, supporting the health and well-being of students during school hours.
Nature of Position
Provide nursing assessments and diagnosis for students.
Administer medications and provide skilled nursing care to students with disabilities as needed.
Document student interactions, medication administration, and parent communications.
Deliver emergency care for students, staff, and visitors during school hours.
Initiate referrals for intervention and follow-up with parents and school personnel.
Provide parental updates and emergency notifications as needed.
Serve as a liaison among students, staff, administration, and families.
Participate in IEP meetings and assist in the development and implementation of student health plans.
Conduct health screenings (vision, hearing, scoliosis, growth, etc.) per applicable guidelines.
Prepare required health reports and distribute relevant health information to students and families.
Requirements
Minimum Qualifications
Current unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license.
Current CPR certification required.
Active Driver’s License required.
Bachelor of Science in Nursing preferred.
One (1) to three (3) years of successful nursing experience required.
Medical/surgical and/or pediatric nursing experience preferred.
Experience working in a school setting preferred.
Experience working with students with disabilities preferred.
Reliable transportation required.
Knowledge of student growth, development, and age-appropriate behaviors.
Knowledge of state health regulations.
Experience with care plans, Individualized Education Plans (IEPs), and/or 504 plans preferred.
Ability to function independently in a school clinic and make sound clinical judgments.
Ability to interpret and communicate school health services to stakeholders.
Ability to plan, implement, and supervise school health screening programs in accordance with state and district mandates.
Ability to collect, analyze, and interpret data to guide healthcare decisions.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both oral and written.
Ability to effectively use computerized software for documentation and reporting
Physical Requirements
This role requires standing, walking, stair climbing, lifting, balancing, pulling, stooping, kneeling, grasping, bending, pushing, reaching, performing frequent sedentary tasks, and the ability to perform CPR.
