Description

Cone Health seeks a Neonatal Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to provide advanced care to high-risk newborns in our Level III/IV NICU. In this role, you will perform comprehensive assessments, develop and implement treatment plans, manage ventilated and critically ill infants, and collaborate closely with neonatologists, nurses, and multidisciplinary teams. You will educate and support families, participate in rounds, and contribute to quality improvement and evidence-based practice. Perform comprehensive assessments of high-risk and critically ill neonates in the NICU
Develop, implement, and adjust evidence-based treatment and care plans
Manage ventilated and hemodynamically unstable infants, including procedures within scope
Order and interpret diagnostic tests and collaborate on medical decision-making with neonatologists
Prescribe medications and therapies in accordance with state and institutional guidelines
Educate and counsel families on diagnosis, treatment plans, and discharge readiness
Participate in multidisciplinary rounds and coordinate care with nursing and allied health staff
Contribute to quality improvement, patient safety initiatives, and evidence-based protocols
Document care thoroughly in the electronic medical record and ensure regulatory compliance
Precept or mentor students and new providers as appropriate

Current RN (if NP) and APRN licensure or PA-C licensure as applicable
National certification as Neonatal Nurse Practitioner (NNP-BC) or PA-C with neonatal focus/experience
Current Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification
Current Basic Life Support (BLS) and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) or equivalent
Eligibility for North Carolina licensure and prescriptive authority
Prior Level III/IV NICU experience strongly preferred
