Description
American Traveler is hiring a travel RN for a PACU position in Hawaii, requiring 2+ years of critical care or PACU experience and an active HI RN license by the start of assignment.
Details
- Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) in a hospital setting
- Patients cared for across pre-op, Phase I, and Phase II recovery
- Shifts vary between 8, 10, and 12 hours and may include days, evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays
- Float between ASU and PACU units
- On-call required 0–3 times per month, including 8-hour night and 24-hour weekend/holiday on-call shifts
- Variable schedule with no shift preference guaranteed
- Equipment used includes Meditech EMR, PCA Pumps, Pyxis, Braun IV Pumps, Cryocuff, SCDs, Bair PAWS Warmers, HP Monitors, and Philips Monitors
- 13-week assignment
Requirements
- Active RN license for the State of Hawaii required by start of assignment; candidates without one must apply upon acceptance of offer
- Minimum 2 years of PACU experience, or 2+ years of critical care RN experience (ER or ICU) in a hospital setting may be accepted as a substitute
- Current BLS and ACLS certifications from the American Heart Association required
- PALS certification from the American Heart Association required
- Proof of flu vaccination or a facility-approved medical/religious exemption required prior to start
Additional Information
- Responsibilities include caring for patients in pre-op, Phase I, and Phase II post-anesthesia recovery
- Candidates must demonstrate advanced knowledge of anesthesiology and critical care skills, including assessment of incision sites, monitoring body temperature, and identifying signs of complications
- Background in critical care and surgical nursing is a strong plus
- All travelers must report to Employee Health 48–72 hours prior to their assignment start date; travelers should plan to arrive in Hawaii the Thursday before a Monday start to attend a Friday Employee Health clearance appointment
- Flu vaccination may be administered at the Employee Health clearance appointment if needed
